About the sexually transmitted infections
There are many ways that Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, herpes, and HIV can be transmitted from one person to the next. In addition to sexual activity, STDs can be communicated through pregnancy, needle-sharing, skin-on-skin contact, and even breastfeeding. Unlike what many people tend to think, any kind of sexual activity may potentially transmit STDs from one person to another including oral sex and anal sex and although diseases such as Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and HIV are mostly spread through body fluids, herpes and a few of the other STDs also spread through skin-to-skin contact. Like is the case with contraception, condoms are an effective resource for preventing the spread of STDs but they are by no means completely safe and they do not completely remove the possibility of transmission. According to the CDC, the most alarming aspect about STD infection is that many of the sexually transmitted diseases exhibit no symptoms at all. As such, STD testing offers the one and only way for you to assess your STD health status.

Chlamydia is by far one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the United States. In general, the disease is made all the more dangerous by the fact that most people who have Chlamydia don’t notice any symptoms until at a much later stage of the infection. Diagnosing Chlamydia is easy usually done via a urine test or a swab of the affected area. Chlamydia is also easily treated with antibiotics, but left untreated it can lead to serious long-term health complications.
Genital herpes testing Houston
Genital herpes is a long-term sexual health infection caused by the herpes simplex virus. After an initial exposure to the virus, recurrent infections may occur every couple of months. Currently there is no cure for genital herpes, but the symptoms can usually be effectively controlled using antiviral medicines. This makes early diagnosis of the condition important.
Gonorrhea testing Houston
Gonorrhea is a bacterial infection that can be easily diagnosed through a simple swab test or a urine test. If diagnose dearly, Gonorrhea can be treated with a course of antibiotics. If left untreated, it can lead to more serious long-term health problems and infertility.
Syphilis testing Houston
Syphilis is a bacterial infection that causes a painless but highly infectious sore on your genitals or sometimes around your mouth. Secondary symptoms, such as a skin rash and sore throat then develop. These may disappear within a few weeks, after which you have a symptom-free phase. If diagnosed early, Syphilis can be easily treated with antibiotics but if left untreated, the sexually transmitted disease can progress to a more serious and dangerous form causing paralysis, blindness or even death.
HIV
The HIV virus is common almost all over the world mostly transmitted form one person to another via unprotected sex or when needles are shared among drug users. The virus works by weakening your ability to fight infections and your body becomes very vulnerable to what are called opportunistic diseases such as cancer and fungal infections. There is no cure for HIV but there are effective treatments for the infection provided it is diagnosed early. If you have any reason to think that you might have contracted HIV, you need to get tested as soon as you can. You don’t want to delay treatment if you do test positive.
Hepatitis B testing Houston
Hepatitis is a virus that causes inflammation of the liver and left untreated, the infection can cause liver failure, liver cancer and even death. Currently the CDC estimates that there are 1.25 million people living with chronic Hepatitis B virus infection in the United States. The Hepatitis B virus is spread by contact with an infected person’s blood or sexual fluids. This can happen during vaginal, anal, and oral sex or from sharing needles. The Hepatitis B test we offer and recommend is a blood test that screens for early signs of the infection.
Hepatitis C testing Houston
Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by a virus. The infection is usually silent until very late in the disease. If detected and treated early, it is possible to clear the virus and fight off the disease. Left untreated for over 6 months, the infection develops to a more serious stage. Hepatitis C is spread by contact with an infected person’s blood. This can happen through sharing needles or accidental needle sticks. For Hepatitis C testing, the test we recommend is a blood test that looks for antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus. When your Hepatitis C test results are ready, you will receive a mail and you will be able to access your results through a secure portal online.
