Here are some interesting statistics from the Center For Disease Control (CDC) 2010 Report on Sexually Transmitted Diseases:

Full CDC Report

Chlamydia – 1,307,893 Reported Cases in 2010 – 426 cases per 100,000 population – 5.1% increase since 2009

Gonorrhea – 309,341 Reported Cases in 2010 – 100.8 cases per 100,000 population – 2.8% increase since 2009

Syphilis – 13,774 Reported Cases in 2010

The report goes on to show STD Rates by Geographical Region, Gender, Ethnicity, Age, and Year.

While it’s certainly worth a read if you enjoy statistics or have a medical background, the averages and data in the report don’t help if you think you have a sexually transmitted disease.

The overall data is eye-opening, but the bottom line is simple. Have safe sex for prevention, and if you think you have a sexually transmitted disease, get tested immediately.

Health Insurance is a good thing…or is it?

Most would argue that full coverage health insurance is a positive product to own. In many cases, this is 100% correct.

However, there are cases where health insurance actually keeps people from seeing a doctor. STD Testing is one of those rare cases.

STD Testing patients value their privacy and speedy testing. Full coverage insurance provides neither of these advantages.

Many people don’t know this, but even if you have insurance, you can still pay low out-of-pocket costs for STD testing at a 3rd party location. You are not required to report all doctors visits and lab tests to your health insurance company.

Lab testing doesn’t have to be expensive. If you think you might have a Sexually Transmitted Disease and want to get tested discreetly and inexpensively, give us a call today at (888) 916 3654.

You don’t need to have health insurance. And if you do have health insurance, you’re not required to report private testing.
